As a group owner or operator, you can remove members from your GCcollab group. You can also invite members and non-members to your group.  

 

 

 

 


In the Group members box on the main Group page, click View all members.

 

Enter name of the group member you wish to remove in the Filter items box, or scroll down until you see the name.  


 

Click Remove from group. The removed member will not be notified. 


 

Inviting someone to your group who doesn’t yet have a GCcollab account:

 

For someone to join your group, they will need to create an account on GCcollab. You can easily invite them to join GCcollab and join your group from the same invitation. 

  

On your group activity page, click on the Settings icon that is located on the right of the page. 

 

Then, choose Invite users to the group from the drop-down menu.

 

 


On this page, select the tab Using email address. (Note: as they are not yet users of GCcollab, you can only invite them using their email address.)


 

 

 

 

 Enter the email address(es) separated by semicolons and include a personalized message of your choice (optional).

 

(Note: If you are inviting someone for a second time (or more), select the checkbox Resend invitations to users who have already been invited. This will only resend the invitation to the people whose email address(es) are included in this invitation.) 

 

 Select Invite.

 

 Congratulations! You have successfully sent your invitation.

 

 If the person you invited is having difficulties with registration...

 

Your invitees will receive your personalized email, explaining that you've invited them to join your group on GCcollab. They can use the link in the email (or copy and paste it into their Internet browser) to register to GCcollab and then be automatically added to your group, or visit https://gccollab.ca/register to register to GCcollab at a later time. On the registration page, they will be prompted to enter their name, organization, valid email, and choose a password.

Note: If the person registering to GCcollab is not part of the pre-approved groups (governments, academia, etc) who can register and using the email domain of those institutions, they will only be able to register by using the same email address that was used to invite them originally. 

 

After successfully completing the registration, they will need to validate their account. A validation email will be sent to the email address they provided. They can either click or copy/paste the link provided into their browser.

Note: If your invitee does not receive your invitation in a timely manner, ask them to check their Junk or Spam folders as some local network security filters block emails to 'authenticate' or 'validate’ accounts.

 

Upon registering and validating their account, they will be automatically added as a member of your group. As the person who invited them to GCcollab, you are also automatically added as their colleague. 

 

 

 

Inviting someone to your group who is already a GCcollab user

 

You can easily invite an existing GCcollab user to join your group. There are two different options to do so.

 

Option 1: 

 

Start on the activity page of your group. 

 

On the activity page there is an invite button, click on it.

 


 

Select between: 

  • My Colleagues: Checkmark the ones that you want to invite or check the box beside my colleagues.
  • Find user(s): Type in the name of the user you would like to invite.
  • Using e-mail address: Type in the email address of the user you would like to invite.

 

 


 Once you have selected the individuals that you wish to invite, you may add a personal note (this is optional).


 

Click Invite.

         

Congratulations! You have successfully sent your invitation.

 

Option 2:

 

Start on the activity page of the group. 

 

Click the settings icon, located on the right side of the homepage. This will reveal a drop-down menu.

 

 

 

 

Select Invite users to the group on the drop-down menu.

 

 Select between: 

  • My Colleagues: Checkmark the ones that you want to invite or do Select all colleagues.
  • Find user(s): Type in the name of the user you would like to invite.
  • Using e-mail address: Type in the email address of the user you would like to invite.

 

 Once you have selected the individuals that you wish to invite, you may add a personal note (this is optional).

 

 

 Select Invite.

 

 Congratulations! You have successfully sent your invitation.

 

 If the person you invited is having difficulties with registration…

 

  • Your invitees will receive your personalized email, explaining that you've invited them to join your group on GCcollab. They can use the link in the email to access their group invitations or see their Invitations under the Groups tab in the main header. The person you invited will have the option to accept or decline your invitation.
